DC Ramban, SSP inspect traffic regulation on Ramban- Banihal stretch of NHW

Participate in Weekly Block Diwas meeting at Banihal

RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban Mussarat Islam along with SSP, Mohita Sharma today visited Banihal town to resolve the issues of traffic congestion on National Highway, besides listening to the grievances of the locals at their doorsteps.

The Deputy Commissioner also presided over Block Diwas meeting at Banihal in presence of DDC Councilor Banihal, Imtiyaz Khanday; DDC Councilor Ramsoo-A, Bashir Naik; SSP, Mohita Sharma; ADC, Harbans Sharma; SDM, Vikar Giri and other officers and PRIs. A large number of people from across different Panchayats attended the meeting.

Several issues of public importance and grievances were raised by the PRI members and civil society members of the area, besides discussing the issues of smooth flow of traffic on National highway.

During the Block Diwas meeting, the issues pertaining to traffic management were discussed with Beopar Mandal Banihal in detail. The people projected various demands including provision of parking area in the Banihal town, sprinkling of water on roads in the to overcome the problem of dust and traffic jamming, augmentation of water supply, road connectivity to uncovered areas, execution of MGNREGA works and construction of JJM schemes proposed for the area.

The DC directed the SDM and Traffic Police to implement the order of no Parking Zone, especially in Banihal town to provide safe passage to fruit carrying vehicles.

Responding to the issue of parking in Banihal area the DC passed on the spot direction to the ADC to identify a suitable land for the same. He also inspected proposed space for parking and monitored the traffic regulation for smooth traffic movement on NH-44.

He directed the concerned to remove all the encroachments along the footpath in Banihal town. The DC and SSP also reviewed the transportation of nomads through trucks arranged by ARTO Ramban.

They also participated in a plantation drive organized by the Atulya Bharat roller skating yatra and Forest Department along the National Highway.

Earlier, responding to the public demands, the DC said that timely and quality disposal of the issues of general public is the top priority of the administration. He assured that all their genuine issues will be resolved in a time bound manner. He also directed the concerned officers of line departments to ensure speedy and time bound resolution of the issues raised during the block Diwas.

Further, the DC briefed the participants about Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan launched in the district and urged the youth to stay away from the Drug abuse.

While speaking on the occasion, SSP briefed about the traffic scenario in the district. She appealed to the general public to cooperate with the police and traffic department for hassle free movement of the traffic as well as nomads. She directed the DySP Traffic to take strict action against the violators, especially in Banihal town.

Meanwhile, the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, B. Raina sensitized the participants including farmers about preventative measures against the lumpy skin disease.

Block Diwas meetings were also held at other designated locations where public representatives, PRIs, and general masses highlighted their issues for which concerned officers assured quick action.
