Block Diwas: DDC Chairman Kathua, DC listen to public Grievances at Bhoond

KATHUA: As part of Public Outreach Programme, Block Diwas proceedings were today held at BDO Office Bhoond, Basohli.

DDC Chairperson Kathua, Mahan Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Pandey, PRI members, District and Sectoral officers, besides a large number of people attended the programme.

The programme witnessed scores of individuals and deputations including PRI members projecting demands and apprising the District Administration about the problems faced by the inhabitants of their respective areas.

The people submitted memorandum of demands seeking better road connectivity, drinking water supply to uncovered areas and other amenities.

The main issues highlighted during the programme included repair of Shara-Markha road, Jandrali-Nangali roads, besides early completion of pending work on Sukha Nala.

Opening of Kendriya Vidyalaya at Bhoond, opening of bank branch at Hatt and ATM for Bhoond Block headquarters were among the other demands highlighted by the people.

Speaking on the occasion, DDC Chairperson said that present dispensation under Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is working with the resolve to take governance to the doorsteps of the public.

He said with the functioning of the three-tier Panchayati Raj System in Jammu & Kashmir has paved the way for realising the ambitious goal of speedy development at grassroots level.

He stressed upon the PRI representatives and Officers of concerned departments to work in tandem to achieve desired development targets in a set timelines.

The DDC informed the gathering that the government is determined to provide all weather road connectivity to remote areas of the district and a number of roads are also coming up in Bhoond block under PMGSY. He said a Common Facility Centre is coming up at the estimated cost of Rs 70 lakh at Hatt which will benefit locals of the area.

Responding to the specific demands, the DDC passed on the spot instructions to the concerned departments for time bound resolution of all the issues. He said that Block Diwas initiative was aimed at reaching out to the people and listening to their grievances and redressing them in an efficient and coordinated manner. He stressed upon the officers to prioritise the redressal of all public grievances.
