Red Cross provides Relief Items to rain affected people in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR: The District Red Cross Society Kishtwar has swiftly mobilized its resources and is collaborating with local authorities to provide relief to the rain affected populace.

The torrential rains and subsequent landslides have caused damage to the private property and infrastructure in different parts of the district.

Several residential houses, Cattle sheds and a School have been partially to completely damaged in the tehsil Kishtwar, Nagseni, Chatroo and Mughalmaidan.

In response to the crisis, the Red Cross Society, under the supervision of District Magistrate Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav, provided relief items to alleviate the suffering of those impacted by the disaster.

Two families residing in Bonda Chingam Sheikh Pora, whose homes were completely damaged due to the landslides, were the recipients of the relief material today.

The relief distribution, carried out under the guidance of SDM Chatroo Naeem Ur Rehman, AO DC Office Satinder Singh and Red cross Officials, included essential items such as mattresses, bedding, utensils, hygiene kits, and other necessities.

Efforts are concentrated on extending immediate assistance to the severely affected families, with plans underway to extend relief to others also.

The District Magistrate Kishtwar affirmed ongoing communication with affected families through local administration channels, ensuring a coordinated response to the evolving situation.

The scale of destruction is evident, with numerous households evacuated and widespread damage to private properties reported across the affected areas.

Red Cross teams, alongside State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel and local authorities are on high alert to address any exigencies that may arise, informed DM Kishtwar.

Advisory notices have been disseminated urging residents, especially those in vulnerable locales, to exercise caution.
