DODA: In a significant step towards empowering the elderly and persons with disabilities (Divyangjans), the Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) organized a free distribution camp at the Community Hall, Doda.
The initiative was carried out under the Government of India's Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) and Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) Scheme, which aim to enhance the mobility, dignity and independence of the beneficiaries.
The event was held under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh and the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Doda, Tariq Parveez Qazi.
During the camp, a wide range of assistive devices was distributed among the beneficiaries after proper assessment of their needs. The aids included wheelchairs, walkers, walking sticks, hearing aids, elbow crutches, waist belts and knee braces. The recipients expressed their gratitude to the authorities, noting how these devices would improve their day-to-day lives and reduce their dependence on others.
This initiative reflects the government's resolve to foster an inclusive environment where senior citizens and differently-abled individuals can live with dignity and self-reliance.
The District Social Welfare Department assured that such outreach programs would continue in the future, covering even remote areas of the district.
The camp also served as a platform to inform beneficiaries about other welfare schemes and services available to them, encouraging them to register and avail the benefits. |
