DC Reasi pitches for intensive efforts to make District TB-Free

REASI: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, today chaired a high-level meeting to review the implementation and progress of the Intensified TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP).

The meeting focused on intensifying screening, providing better treatment, and enhancing inter-sectoral coordination to ensure the successful execution of the TB elimination drive.

District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Anil Saloach gave a detailed overview of the current status of TB in the district.

The DC issued a string of directives stressing on extensive screening to identify potential patients. She instructed healthcare officials to achieve the set screening targets at the earliest.

She emphasized the need to prioritize high-risk groups, particularly individuals in close contact with TB patients - including family members, friends, and colleagues-to ensure timely treatment and prevention of further transmission.

In a significant move under the Nikshay Mitra initiative, DC Malik directed all doctors and healthcare officials to adopt at least one TB patient, providing them with nutritional basket kits and necessary amenities to support their recovery and overall well-being.

To enhance outreach and public engagement, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Health Department to organize TB screening and awareness camps in collaboration with the Rural Development Department to ensure comprehensive community participation.

DC Malik also highlighted the urgent need for strengthening ongoing efforts, directing the Health Department to ensure the availability of diagnostic facilities in all health institutions across the district.

Reaffirming the administration's commitment to a TB Mukt Bharat, she encouraged collective action, robust monitoring and streamlined treatment delivery mechanism. She reiterated that Reasi is firmly aligned with the national mission to become TB-free by 2025.

The meeting was attended by CMO Dr. Ashraf Kohli, Deputy CMO, Medical Superintendent, BMOs and other concerned officers.
