BARAMULLA: The police on Tuesday said they have arrested another suspect, a JCB driver, involved in the graveyard evacuation case in North Kashmir's Baramulla district.

The police said that in the sensitive incident at the Delina graveyard that occurred on July 07, 2025, Baramulla Police have arrested the absconding JCB driver involved in the unauthorized excavation that led to public unrest.

The driver, who had fled the scene after being confronted by an agitated crowd, was located and taken into custody earlier today following sustained efforts by the investigation team. His arrest follows the earlier detention of the contractor, and both are now under legal proceedings initiated through FIR No. 124/2025 registered at Police Station Baramulla, they said.

Investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances and accountability surrounding the incident, they said.

Police continue to maintain law and order in the area, with ongoing engagement with community leaders and active monitoring of digital platforms to prevent the spread of provocative or false content, they said.

Baramulla Police reaffirm its dedication in upholding communal harmony and public safety, and urge citizens to remain calm, avoid speculation, and follow verified updates through official channels, reads the statement.
