Ramban road accident: Toll mounts to 5 as another injured succumbs

RAMBAN: One more person injured in the Ramban road accident has succumbed to his injuries early Saturday morning at SKIMS Hospital Srinagar, taking the total death toll to five.

The tragic accident occurred on Friday, July 11, when a TATA Sumo vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the Ukhral Pogal Paristan Tehsil of district Ramban.

The accident took place on the Senabati link road near Madina Masjid Hill in the Paristan area of Ukhral Tehsil, where the vehicle rolled down approximately 600 feet from the road.

BMO Ukhral, Dr Abdul Rehman told that total six injured were shifted to PHC Ukhral and two of them declared brought dead. He said after giving first aid at PHC Ukhral four injured were referred to SDH Banihal where one more injured succumbed to his injuries, taking the death toll to three. Later on another injured succumbed to his injuries while on way to GMC Anantnag.

Police identified the deceased as driver and owner of ill-fated Tata sumo Mohammad Rafiq Gujjar, Towqeer Ahmed Bhat of Paristan Panchayat and Abdul Latief Gujjar, resident of Bingara Panchayat in Ukhral Pogal Paristan tehsil of district Ramban.

The officials informed that two injured have been referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for advanced treatment.
