Orientation programme on New Criminal Laws hosted for District Bar Association Samba

SAMBA: On the directions of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, District Judiciary Samba today organised one day Orientation cum training programme for the advocates of District Bar Association Samba on three New Criminal Laws which are going to be implemented from 1st of July 2024 across the country.

The forthcoming Criminal Laws are slated to supplant the Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code and the Indian Evidence Act.

The training programme was held in the Bar room of District Court Complex Samba.

The training programme was organised to equip the participants with a profound understanding and operational knowledge of three critical legislative Acts recently assented to by the President of India.

In his introductory address, Adnan Sayeed, Pr. District and Sessions Judge highlighted the significance of understanding all the three criminal laws by the lawyers. He also gave a brief overview of the changes introduced in the existing Indian Penal Code 1860, Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 and the Indian Evidence Act 1982 respectively.

The One Day orientation programme was divided into three sessions. In the first Session, Preet Simran K Grover, Chief Judicial Magistrate gave a PowerPoint Presentation on Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary, DLSA Samba deliberated on the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita(BNS), while Urvashi Addl. Munsiff also gave a Power Point Presentation on Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Himani Parihar, Munsiff Samba.

The event witnessed the participation of President Bar Association Samba, Senior Bar Members as well as young lawyers of Bar Association, Officers from Prosecution Wing, Officers of LADCs, Staff Members of District Judiciary Samba and DLSA Samba.
