SSP Jammu holds meetings with border residents

JAMMU: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Dr Vinod Kumar Wednesday convened a series of meetings with locals of the border area in subdivision R S Pura to strengthen border vigilance.

A police spokesperson said, "SSP Jammu held a series of crucial meetings with local residents and weapon license holders from Arnia, Treva, Sai, Baspur, Agrachak areas of the R S Pura subdivision. These meetings aimed to enhance community awareness and their involvement in maintaining regional security amidst ongoing threats."

SP Headquarters Jammu Irshad H Rather; SDPO R S Pura Nikhil Gogna; SHO Arnia; SHO R S Pura; In-charge Border Police Post (BPP) Sai; In-charge BPP Treva; In-charge BPP Baspur; In-charge BPP Agrachak, and other officials accompanied SSP in the meetings.

Residents from border villages actively participated, receiving detailed briefings on the current security situation and the continuous terrorist threats in the Jammu zone.

The SSP urged locals to report any suspicious individuals or activities immediately to the police to help prevent potential incidents. He asked them to keep a close watch on the activities of outsiders visiting border areas daily for ‘pheri' (vending) purposes and on the movements of vehicles, especially in the early morning hours carrying milk and vegetables towards the city.

"Any unusual or suspicious activities of unknown persons should be reported promptly to the nearest police station or police post to avert any adverse incidents," SSP said.

Meanwhile, Border Security Force (BSF) and the police have initiated investigation into the recovery of 49 rounds of live ammunition from a well in Bain Galad village along the International Border (IB) in Samba district. According to officials, the recovery was made by villagers while cleaning the well. Security forces rushed to the spot after being informed by the locals and took custody of the ammunition.
