SAMBA: As part of the ongoing efforts under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, a special voter awareness event was organized today at the Bamboo Common Facility in the village of Simblana, Block Sumb.
The event, led by the SVEEP Nodal Officer, aimed to sensitize the local community about the importance of participating in the upcoming elections on 1st October 2024.
Simblana village, known for its bamboo artisans, saw a large turnout of locals who were engaged in an interactive sensitization session.
The Nodal Officer emphasized the role of each voter in a democracy and encouraged the community to come out and vote in large numbers. The event also highlighted the special facilities available at polling stations to ensure a comfortable voting experience for everyone.
Key points of the awareness drive included:
Minimum Facilities at Polling Stations: Voters were informed about the arrangements made to provide adequate lighting, drinking water, ramps for persons with disabilities, and proper signage to guide voters at all polling locations.
Special Polling Stations: Special emphasis was laid on setting up model polling stations to enhance voter convenience, particularly for vulnerable sections of society, including the elderly and disabled.
The event is part of a larger SVEEP initiative focused on boosting voter turnout, especially in rural areas where voter engagement has traditionally been lower.
The community of bamboo artisans in Simblana welcomed the efforts of the district administration and expressed their support for active participation in the democratic process. |
