SRINAGAR: Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister J&K Mehbooba Mufti thanked MLA Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone, Independent MLA Shabir Kullay and MLA Langate Sheikh Khurshid for showing solidarity with PDP MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Para in opposing the abrogation of Article 370 in J&K Legislative Assembly today.

She said that support showed by these MLAs underscores the ongoing political and humanitarian concerns within Jammu and Kashmir.

She also said that it is essential to keep advocating for the rights and voices of the people of J&K, to ensure that their concerns are heard and resolved.

Taking to micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter), the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said: "Thank you, @sajadlone, Independent MLA Shabir Kullay, and Sheikh Khurshid, for your solidarity with the PDP MLAs in opposing the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status".

"Your support in this resolution underscores the ongoing political and humanitarian concerns within Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting the broader sentiment of many who view the revocation of Article 370 as a significant alteration to our autonomy and identity. This collective action by political figures across different lines signifies the depth of feeling about the issue, aiming to address not only legal but also moral dimensions of the decision made by the central government," she said on X.

"As we move forward, it's essential to keep advocating for the rights and voices of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring that their concerns are heard and addressed," Mehbooba added.

Earlier in the day, chaotic scenes were witnessed in Legislative Assembly after PDP MLAs including Waheed-ur-Rehman Para submitted a resolution seeking restoration of Article 370 to J&K.

The move triggered a massive ruckus in the House with BJP MLAs urging the Speaker to trash the resolution forthwith. However the Speaker while trying to calm down the tempers of BJP Members said, "This is my domain, let me examine this and accordingly I will decide on the resolution," Rather said while pacifying the opposition camp.
