AHD Jammu conducts extensive awareness campaign in remote areas of Doda, Kishtwar districts

JAMMU: On the instructions of Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Waheeda Parveen, the Extension and Publicity Wing of the department carried out two-day extensive awareness campaign in far flung areas of Doda and Kishtwar districts to educate farmers about self-employment opportunities available under various schemes/missions/programmes related to Animal Husbandry sector.

As part of this extensive campaign, farmers' awareness camps were organised in far-flung areas of Doda and Kishtwar districts like Bhagwah, Kastigarh and Inderwal in coordination with the CAHO Doda and CAHO Kishtwar.

During the campaign, Extension Officer Dr. Mohammad Sajjad explained various schemes and programmes being implemented by the department of Animal Husbandry with special focus on flagship Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) of Jammu and Kashmir UT government and urged the farmers to come forward and avail attractive incentives being offered by the government in dairy, poultry and fodder sectors.

He further disseminated useful information related to various technical issues facing farmers by updating their knowledge and skills and advised them to adopt latest technologies in dairy and poultry farming to improve their incomes. During the entire campaign free of cost medicines were also provided to the farmers for their livestock.

The awareness campaign witnessed massive participation of farmers including women farmers. Farmers present expressed their gratitude to the department of Animal Husbandry Jammu for reaching their doorsteps for their empowerment.
