SAMBA: To commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary English novelist, Charles Dickens, a quiz competition organised by the Department of English of SPPND GDC Samba, was held here on Tuesday.

Students' from Semester IV and VI enthusiastically participated in the quiz, which featured questions on Dickens' novels, characters, themes and contributions to literature shedding light on issues like social inequality, impact of Industrial Revolution child labour, class disparities etc.

The competition was designed to encourage literary appreciation and critical thinking among students.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof (Dr) Twinkle Suri, Principal of the college exhorted that Charles Dickens, a luminary of Victorian literature, is celebrated for his profound insights into human nature and society.

Four teams each comprising of four students participated in the quiz competition.

The winners of the competition were Anuradha Sharma, Kasak Sharma and Tania Katal from Semester IV.

The participants of the quiz competition were felicitated with certificates and prizes.

The whole event was coordinated by Dr Surbhi Malhotra and Tania.
