ANANTNAG: In a significant step towards addressing the growing concern of substance abuse among youth, a comprehensive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign was today organized at Government Higher Secondary School Hiller Arhama under the ambit of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA).

The campaign was aimed at spreading awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse and encouraging the younger generation to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.

Principal of HSS Hiller Arhama emphasized the crucial role of educational institutions in shaping the minds of the youth and steering them away from the path of addiction.

This was followed by a series of informative and motivational sessions delivered by resource persons, counsellors, and subject experts who spoke at length about the psychological, physiological, and societal impact of drug abuse.

Speakers highlighted how drug addiction not only destroys individual lives but also tears apart families and hampers the socio-economic development of communities. They urged the students to stay vigilant, make informed choices, and act as responsible citizens by raising awareness within their peer groups and families.

Special emphasis was laid on early intervention, mental health support, and community vigilance as key strategies in the fight against substance abuse.

As part of the campaign, a series of engaging activities were organized including anti-drug slogan writing, essay competitions, poster-making, and interactive Q&A sessions. The students actively participated and showcased their commitment to the cause through creative expression and thoughtful engagement.

A pledge ceremony was also conducted wherein all participants took an oath to stay away from drugs and contribute to building a Nasha Mukt (drug-free) society.

The IEC campaign at HSS Hiller Arhama is part of a larger series of outreach activities being conducted under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, aimed at mobilizing public opinion and fostering a collective movement against drug addiction.

District administration Anantnag has reiterated its appeal to parents, teachers, religious leaders, and community influencers to join hands in this noble mission to safeguard the future of the younger generation.
