RAMBAN: The District Administration Ramban, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) today organized a special camp to provide free aids and assistive devices to pre-identified Divyangjans (Persons with Disabilities) of block Ramban and Gandhri.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan inaugurated the camp and handed over prosthetic aids and appliances to eligible beneficiaries here at the Tehsil Social Welfare Office. The initiative was conducted under the centrally sponsored Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) and Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP) schemes.
The beneficiaries identified and assessed in advance were provided with a range of assistive aids including wheelchairs, walking sticks, tricycles, motorized tricycles, waist belts, knee braces, artificial limbs, blind kits, kits for intellectual disability, sugma canes, smartphones, hearing aids and crutches.
A total of 28 beneficiaries from different parts of District Ramban received the aids and appliances aimed at improving their mobility, independence and quality of life.
Appreciating the efforts of the Social Welfare Department and ALIMCO, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the transformative impact of such initiatives, especially on students and working individuals with disabilities. He called for organizing similar camps more frequently across all blocks and zones of the district to ensure inclusive development.
The camp was coordinated by District Social Welfare Officer Tariq Qazi and Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Hardev Singh, along with the dedicated team from ALIMCO and the staff of the Social Welfare Department. |
