Workshop on Stream Selection and Career Counseling organised by TSRUS

JAMMU: With an objective to provide proper guidance to the school children, The Shri Ram Universal School recently organized a Stream Selection and Career Counselling Workshop for students of class IX and X in the school premises.

This workshop was conducted with the support of Shri Educare Limited.

The session was inaugurated by Dr Neelika Arora, Asst Prof, Central University of Jammu, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Anjali Uppal, Head of Career Advisory Dept, TSMS Delhi NCR, Puja Khullar, Career Advisor, TSMS Delhi NCR, Sanjeev Gupta, Chairman of The Shri Ram Universal School, Rajni Gupta, Director, Col VK Sharma (Retd), Principal, Shivani Vaid Sharma, Headmistress among others joined the workshop as special guest and inspired students with their motivating thoughts.

Uppal and Khullar emphasized that exploration of careers is of utmost importance in today's times. They introduced students and parents to various emerging career streams ranging from Defence forces, creativity based careers and various other unconventional career options. They also clarified common misconceptions associated with choosing streams and careers and emphasized on ‘WHY NOT' to choose certain career options.

Col VK Sharma (Retd), Principal TSUSJ, in his address explained the importance of managing uncertainty in life in the advent of complex and challenging conditions and emphasized the need for preparedness to adapt to new ideas and new techniques.

He added that the workshop would help students in exploring the emerging career avenues along with available choices of education in the near future. He said, "One right step in the right direction can make your future brilliant."

Speaking on the occasion, Neelika Arora said that "There are vast career options available today and students need guidance on the same. I am sure that a platform like this will help not only the students but also the parents to guide their children better in choosing a career of a lifetime".

Around 150 students and parents of city-based schools attended the workshop. The workshop aimed at giving proper direction to the students and their parents. The students and parents had one-on-one interaction with the counsellors.

The initiative by the school management was well appreciated by the parents and expressed their gratitude. The guests were felicitated by the school management by presenting them the school memento.
