5824 cases settled in National Lok Adalat Poonch

POONCH: A National Lok Adalat under supervision of  Supreme Court and  High Court of J&K was organized today in District Court Poonch. Judicial Officers, Bar Members, Bank Employees, litigants and the general public participated with full enthusiasm.

After inauguration of National Lok Adalat, Chairman DLSA Poonch Ashok Kumar Shavan (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Poonch highlighted the positive aspects of Lok Adalat and described it as the need of the hour. He stressed upon the general public to come forward to take benefit of the same.

At District H.Q eight benches were constituted. First bench was presided over by Sh. Ashok Kumar Shavan, Chairman DLSA (Pr. Distt &Sessions Judge) Poonch and assisted by Advocte Showkat Manhas, President Bar Association, Poonch.

The Second Bench was presided over by Sh. Madan Lal CJM (Chairman TLSC Poonch) and assisted by Wajahat Hussain Kazmi, Secretary DLSA Poonch. Third Bench was presided by Javed Rana Hakla, Special Mobile Magistrate Poonch and assisted by Makhtar Ahmed.

Forth Bench was presided by Tabraiz Ahmed District mobile magistrate Poonch and assisted by Advocate Sunil Sharma.

The fifth Bench comprised of Zaheer Ahmed Kafi, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Poonch and was assisted by Anjum Bashir Khan, Tehsildar Haveli Poonch. Sixth Bench was presided by Abid Hussain Shah, District Labour Officer, Poonch. Seventh Bench was presided over by Basharat Mehmood ARTO, Poonch.

Eighth Bench was presided by Varinder Pal Singh, Executive Officer, Municipality, Poonch.

At Surankote the bench was presided over by Manzoor Ahmed Khan, Chairman TLSC Surankote. At Mendhar bench was presided by Saloni, Chairperson TLSC (JMIC) Mendhar.

A total no of 6269 cases were taken up in today's Lok Adalat including civil, criminal, MACT, Bank Recovery, Pre-Litigation and other cases. Out of these 5824 cases were settled by all the above-mentioned benches by way of Mediation, Conciliation and compromise. In MACT 3 cases were settled, 52 Criminal cases, 36 civil cases were also decided and a total amount of Rs. 9527850 was settled. Light refreshment was also served to all the participants.
