Baisakhi celebrated with great zest and fervour at BOMIS Jammu

JAMMU: Baisakhi was celebrated with gaiety and fervour in the premises of BOMIS Jammu.

The student presented a special Assembly with a colourful extravaganza of songs and dances to mark the celebration. Children were explained about the importance of the festival by showcasing the Punjabi culture.

The speakers highlighted the importance and relevance of the Baisakhi festival. They talked about its cultural and social relevance, also about the Jallianwala Bagh incident.

They also highlighted the importance of communal harmony and national integration.

After that learners of grade 6 and 7 presented a lively performance of Bhangra and Gidda which was was followed by an energetic medley of Punjabi Folk songs for bountiful harvest presented by the senior students of the school.

The highlight of the day was the ambience as children clad in their traditional best experienced the joy and euphoria of the harvest festival.

The motive behind the celebrations was to apprise the children of their rich culture and heritage.

The students of Birla Open Minds international School also celebrated Baisakhi festival with the children of Bal Ashram by distributing sweets and donating books.

While speaking on the occasion, Aparana Kohli, Principal of the school, said Baisakhi was not only a harvest festival but also an auspicious day as on this day Guru Gobind Singh had established the "Khalsa Panth".

She wished everyone happy Baisakhi and applauded students for the spectacular show. Children participated with enthusiasm and brought joy for the Assembly.
