Plantation drive under AKAM held at GCW Udhampur

UDHAMPUR: Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav (AKAM) Committee of Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur organized a plantation drive in collaboration with Department of Botany, Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur, here today.

The plant saplings of some plant species of medicinal importance including Terminalia Arjuna (Arjun Tree), Phyllanthus emblica ( Indian gooseberry), Pongamia pinnata (Pongame oiltree), etc. were planted by the Principal of the College, Prof Anjali Mahajan, Dr. Sanjeet Kour (Convenor AKAM), Ashni Devi (HOD Botany) and other faculty members of the college.

Principal applauded the efforts of the organisers for plantation drive that will make a healthy Environment in the college.

She further added that everyone should participate more and morein such plantation drives and should plant one tree each year especially on their birthdays and should look after it till it matures.

The drive was also graced by Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Kewal Kumar, Prof. Sumita Rao, Prof Yash Paul, Prof Tania Mahajan, Prof. Rajinder Singh, Prof. Pooja Bharti and Prof Yash Kumar.
