MIET and Mitsubishi Electric India organize Industry 4.0 Workshop

JAMMU: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) successfully hosted a two-day workshop on Industry 4.0 in collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric India's Factory Automation and Industrial Division (FAID).

This workshop was held at MIET, which is recognized as the first and only Authorized Training Centre (ATC) for Mitsubishi Electric FA in Jammu and Kashmir. The training center is well-equipped with state-of-the-art automation tools, including a 6-axis robotic arm, the FX-5U Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based FA training-kit, and SCADA Software for effective data acquisition.

The ATC at MIET caters to training needs of industries in the Jammu region on advanced technologies besides providing in-depth training and workshops to students to equip them with future skills.

The event saw participation from 20 industry professionals from leading companies such as Medley Pharmaceuticals, Cadila, and Ravenbhel Pharmaceuticals. It provided an in-depth exploration of Industry 4.0 technologies and their applications in modern industrial settings.

Sanjeev Kumar, Senior Automation Engineer from Mitsubishi Electric India, led the sessions, educating participants on the fundamentals of PLC systems, hardware configurations, and programming techniques, alongside hands-on training using GX Works 3 software.

The workshop also delved into advanced subjects including structured programming, the use of various programming editors, and the integration of both standard and custom libraries.

Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, emphasized the significance of exchanging knowledge with industry leaders and reiterated the institution's commitment to initiating new training programs focused on artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, electric vehicles, and augmented/virtual reality technologies. He underscored the importance of strengthening industry-academia partnerships and enhancing the skills of the workforce to meet the challenges of emerging technologies.

The valedictory event was officiated by Prof. Sahil Sawhney, General Manager Strategic Initiatives, and Prof. Ashok Kumar, Dean Academic Affairs at MIET. Prof. Sawhney appreciated the efforts of MIET ATC in fostering significant industrial relationships and its ongoing commitment to enhancing professional skills in cutting-edge technological arenas.
