IASOWA blends Green Mission with its donation drive at Channi School

JAMMU: In a heartfelt initiative aimed at fostering environmental consciousness and supporting education, the IAS Officers Wives Association (IASOWA), J&K Chapter, under the able guidance of its Chairperson, Dr. Monika Wali, conducted a plantation drive and distributed stationery, books, and sports items among the students at Government Middle School, Dodhi Gujjar Colony, Channi.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from IASOWA members including Jyoti Chauhan, Anuradha, Sunaina Sharma, and Rohini Yadav.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Monika Wali sensitized the students about pressing environmental concerns, emphasizing the importance of tree plantation, reducing the use of single-use plastics, and maintaining sanitation in their surroundings. She urged the children to adopt eco-friendly habits and cultivate a sense of responsibility towards nature from an early age.
She further advised the students to imbibe moral values and human ethics in their daily lives, urging them to be sincere in their studies, obedient to their parents and teachers, respectful to elders, and compassionate towards others. "These qualities," she said, "will shape you into responsible and successful citizens of tomorrow."
The IASOWA members also interacted with the students, inquiring about their aspirations, interests, and hobbies. They motivated the young minds to pursue their goals with determination and passion, assuring them that with dedication, they could achieve great heights.
Special attention was also given to the adolescent girls of the school. The members sensitized them on the importance of personal hygiene, health, and nutrition. They also shared valuable insights on self-respect, empowerment, and the importance of education in achieving independence and confidence.
As part of the visit, the members toured the school's classrooms, library, and laboratories. They distributed essential stationery, books,sports items and other utility to the students, bringing joy and enthusiasm to the young learners. Furthermore, ornamental and shade-giving saplings were planted within the school premises, significantly enhancing the campus's aesthetic appeal.
While planting the saplings, the members highlighted the vital role trees play in maintaining ecological balance and sustaining life on Earth. They also shared IASOWA's ongoing and future initiatives aimed at environmental protection, including afforestation drives, awareness campaigns, and community-based eco-friendly practices.
The school administration, including the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO),Purmandal and the teaching staff, expressed deep gratitude to the IASOWA team for their meaningful intervention.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to environmental stewardship, education, and holistic student development, echoing IASOWA's vision of fostering a better, greener, and more sustainable society.
