DC Poonch reviews progress on identification, creation of Land Bank in district

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal, chaired a meeting today with revenue and forest officers at the DC Office complex to review the progress of identifying and creating parcels for a land bank in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner assessed the tehsil-wise progress in identifying land bank parcels across the district. Discussions focused on a systematic approach to identifying suitable government-owned land parcels, classifying them based on suitability for development or other purposes, and mapping. The process aims to facilitate creation of infrastructure projects in the district, including compensatory afforestation.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the stakeholder departments to classify the identified land parcels according to their suitability for development, compensatory afforestation, or other socio-economic welfare measures. He emphasized on the importance of maintaining accuracy, transparency, and accountability in the records of these land parcels.

All Tehsildars were tasked with revisiting the identified government land parcels within their jurisdictions as soon as possible. The Forest Department waas directed to create maps of the identified land parcels, in coordination with the Revenue Department, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the identification process.

The Tehsildars were also reminded to provide all revenue services accurately and to emphasize transparency in record-keeping.

The meeting was attended by DFO Poonch, Naveed Iqbal; ACR Poonch, Mohd Sayeed; and all Tehsildars.
