World Malaria Day 2025 observed across district Doda

DODA: World Malaria Day 2025 was observed across District Doda by organizing awareness events under this year's theme, "Malaria ends with us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite."
The observance was held under the guidance of Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar, and State Malariologist J&K, Dr. D. J. Raina.
The main event was organized by the District Malaria Unit Doda at Government ANMT School Doda, where Chief Medical Officer Dr. Om Kumar was the chief guest.
The event was attended by Vidya Kotwal, Principal of Government ANMT School; Umar Anayat, District Epidemiologist; Mohammad Shafi Attu, and Malaria Staff members including Basharat Ahmed Mir, Liaqat Ali Zargar, Mohammad Akbar Dev and Rajinder Parshad, faculty members Naveeda Anjum and Saima Kousar along with a large number of students.
The CMO educated the participants about malaria, its symptoms, transmission methods, and emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, timely treatment, and preventive measures such as using mosquito nets and maintaining hygiene.
Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) material on malaria prevention was distributed among the students and other attendees by the Malaria Unit staff.
Earlier, the programme began with a welcome address by Incharge Media Desk Health Department Faizan A. Tramboo,, who also elaborated on the significance of World Malaria Day and the global initiatives aimed at eliminating this preventable disease.
Meanwhile, similar awareness programmes were organized across other blocks of the district, including Assar, Gandoh, and Bhaderwah, under the supervision of respective Block Medical Officers. Health professionals in these areas also conducted educational sessions on malaria awareness, prevention, and control.
The day served as a vital platform to reaffirm the Health Department's commitment toward a malaria-free future and to strengthen community participation in the fight against malaria.
