BUDGAM: As part of the ongoing efforts under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), an extensive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign was conducted today across various panchayats of Budgam district.

The campaign is part of the district administration's commitment to curb substance abuse and promote a drug-free society through proactive awareness and community engagement.

IEC activities were organized for Gund Ali Nayak in GMS Gund Ali Nayak, Sursyar A & Sursyar B at GHSS Surasyar, for Shumnag at Panchayat Ghar Shumnag and for Nowhar at Panchayat Ghar Nowhar.

The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from PRI members, students, youth, civil society members, and officials from various line departments.

Resource persons educated the audience about the ill effects of drug abuse, importance of early intervention, and the support services available for affected individuals and families. Special focus was laid on encouraging community responsibility in identifying and reporting drug-related issues and fostering a supportive ecosystem for rehabilitation and counseling.

Interactive sessions, poster presentations, and motivational talks were part of the outreach, aiming to empower youth as ambassadors of change in their respective communities.

The district administration is focused in its approach for sustaining these awareness drives and ensuring convergence among departments, schools, and local institutions to make Budgam a model district in the fight against substance abuse.
