PULWAMA: As part of the ongoing efforts to combat substance abuse and promote a drug-free society, district administration Pulwama today organised a series of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) camps in various educational institutions across the district under the banner of the Nasha Mukht Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.
The initiative aims to sensitise students and young citizens about the harmful effects of drug abuse, while promoting healthy lifestyles and community vigilance.
The IEC camps included awareness lectures, interactive sessions & poster-making activities to engage students meaningfully on the issue of substance abuse. Students actively participated in discussions and took a collective pledge to lead a drug-free life and spread the message within their families and neighbourhoods.
During the session, resource persons from Health, Education & Social Welfare departments addressed students, highlighting the psychological, physical, and social consequences of drug addiction. Special emphasis was laid on early prevention, peer support, and the importance of family and school environments in shaping positive choices.
The sessions also included guidance on identifying early warning signs of substance abuse, reporting mechanisms, and the availability of government-supported counseling and rehabilitation services.
Officials encouraged students to act as ambassadors of the campaign by spreading awareness in their homes and communities.
The campaign will continue in the coming days with more educational institutions being covered, ensuring that the message of prevention, awareness, and support reaches every student in the district. |
