Biker Dies After Throat Slashed by Banned ‘Chinese Manja’ In Jammu

JAMMU: A 37-year-old man today died after his throat got slit due to Chinese kite thread or 'Chinese manjha' here in Jammu city area.

Police said that the Chinese kite thread hit the neck of a man identified as Sahil, son of Rajendra Kumar, resident of Domana near Talab Tillo area while he was riding on a two-wheeler along with his wife towards Domana area.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital but declared as brought dead.

Police have registered a case and started the investigation.

Notably, Jammu and Kashmir administration has put a blanket man on the sale of Chinese kite thread in Jammu.

"Chinese kite thread" or "Chinese manjha" is a type of kite string that is made from nylon or other synthetic materials and coated with powdered glass or metal particles.

This coating makes the thread extremely sharp, which can be advantageous in kite-fighting competitions where the goal is to cut the strings of other kites.
