Dr Nirmala Deshpande Award 2024 conferred upon Ritu Singh

JAMMU: Gandhi Global Family Jammu & Kashmir conferred the prestigious Padma Vibhushan Dr Nirmala Deshpande Award-2024 on Dr Ritu Singh.

This esteemed honour was bestowed upon Dr Ritu Singh jointly by Army Veteran General G S Jamwal, Great Educationist I D Soni, Padam Shri Dr S P Verma, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the peace-building, social justice, community and women empowerment. Rameshwar Singh Mengi, Raman Gupta, Ch Farooq Alam and Abrol were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Army Veteran General G S Jamwal and I D Soni appreciated Ritu's tireless dedication to promoting harmony and understanding among diverse communities and said that this exemplifies the values upheld by Didi Nirmala Deshpande.

Her commitment to Gandhian principles of non-violence, compassion and service has made a profound impact on the lives of countless individuals in Jammu & Kashmir and beyond, they added.

Padam Shri Dr S P Verma said that the Padma Vibhushan Dr Nirmala Deshpande Award serves as a testament to Ritu's unwavering commitment to fostering dialogue, reconciliation, and sustainable development in the region. Through her exemplary leadership and grassroots initiatives, she has inspired positive change and laid the foundation for a more inclusive and peaceful society, he added.

The award ceremony was conducted by Women wing of Gandhi Global Family J&K.
